Yaun Company was
founded in 1923 when R.D. Yaun pioneered the new technology, “oil burning
equipment”. He provided superior service and customer satisfaction during the
time when oil burners were not as trouble-free as those of today.
R.D. also had to cope
with opponents to “oil burning equipment” since his business grew up in the
middle of a railroad town, Liberty,
NY. Some of his customers who
worked on the rail were threatened bodily harm and loss of jobs if “one of
those contraptions” was installed in their home. The railroad’s main income
was from transporting coal and they were afraid of “change”.
People were added to
the payroll over the years. By 1960, young R.H. Yaun realized the position of
President. R.H.’s new method of management style evolved for the sake of the
company’s continued success. His main idea was to develop and train personnel
from the inside.
Due to failing health,
R.H. retired from the company in 1980 leaving management to Richard H. Yaun,
Jr., Alan Willi and Daniel W. Yaun. Yaun Company secured its position in the
market place by adding major lines some of which include: Weil-McLain,
Peerless, Rheem, Viessmann, Myers, and HeatLink.
In 1986 and 1999 Yaun
Company Inc. opened a new location in Albany
and New Paltz respectively. In addition, Thomas Zweck and Burt Robertson,
long time employees, were added as company stockholders. This is evidence
that our wholesale supply business is boldly confident to serve the plumbing,
electrical and HVAC trades long into the future.
